A9 Tunnel Chain Klaus

The Klaus Tunnel Chain is a section of the A9 Pyhrn Motorway in Upper Austria that was equipped with electromechanical systems by STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions between 2016 and 2019.

To further enhance traffic safety, the four existing tunnel tubes (Klaus, Traunfried, Spering, and Falkenstein) were comprehensively refurbished and the four newly constructed tubes were outfitted with electromechanical equipment. In total, approximately 12.5 kilometers of tunnel, six operation buildings, seven electrical niches, and one cavern were equipped by STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions.

The project also included the installation of the CN.as line (excluding earth works) between the Kienberg Tunnel and the Roßleithen junction, including the connection and expansion of existing open-air systems. Additionally, the medium-voltage switchgear (control and protection devices) between the Tretter Tunnel and the Roßleithen Tunnel was renewed as part of the project.
