Digital Radio for the S-Bahn Berlin Tunnels

In 2021, STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions was awarded the contract to equip the new tunnels for Berlin Central Station with digital radio (dBOS).

In 2011, DB InfraGO AG awarded the contract to extend the S-Bahn North Ring by the two stations Westhafen and Wedding and to connect it to Berlin Central Station.

For this purpose, two tunnel tubes each 410 m long had to be constructed to pass beneath the ring railway tracks, along with a 190 m-long open-cut section and subsequently a tunnel of approximately 610 m leading to Berlin Central Station.

After completion of the construction works, SISS was commissioned in 2021 to equip the tunnels, the open-cut section, and the passerelle with a digital radio system.
