Regional Control Center of the Styrian fire departments

The Provincial Fire Brigade Association of Styria comprises more than 770 fire departments with approximately 50,000 members. The provincial control center manages the emergency number 122 and serves as the central hub for alerting, coordinating, and supporting fire departments across the province. In addition, it functions as a technical and organizational backup for the district fire departments in Styria. SISS was responsible for the complete technical outfitting of this control center.

The supplied VoIP communication system NGS3600 serves as the central hub for all voice communication, emergency call handling, radio communication, and the alerting of fire departments. The operations control system, the GIS, and data management are handled by the I/CAD system.

The existing systems of the individual district fire departments were connected to the regional control center via a WAN (Wide Area Network) operated by the Provincial Fire Brigade Association. In the event of a major incident or if redundancy is required, these local systems can continue to operate autonomously. A total of 16 remote district fire department control centers with 41 workstations were integrated into the network.

The switching system, main workstation consoles, emergency call booths, and furnishings, as well as a visualization system and the entire server infrastructure – including UPS systems, fire alarm systems, radio relay systems operating in various frequency ranges, and the gateways for nationwide alerting – were implemented and continuously expanded by SISS as part of this contract.
