Rescue Control Center of the Austrian Red Cross Carinthia

The central Rescue Control Center of the Federal State of Carinthia dispatches more than 140 rescue vehicles throughout the state, which means that more than 240,000 operations are carried out every year. The technical infrastructure of the Rescue Control Center was set up by STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions. The NGS3600 Communication Management System plays a decisive role in the processing of emergency calls and the coordination of operations.

The rescue control center in Klagenfurt and the geo-redundant outage location in Villach have a joint operations control system with integrated GIS and Q&A system in triple redundant design. The VoIP voice switching system NGS3600 is also implemented in a fully and geo-redundant version, supports four PRI connections and 18 radio channels, including a VoIP connection to the external locations and additional analogue telephone interfaces.

The high demands on the system are met by a redundant virtualization of 10 servers. The entire IT infrastructure comprises 43 system cabinets, clients and servers, firewalls, storage, switches and the complete structured cabling. A dual voice recording system records all emergency calls, workstations and 18 radio channels. Interfaces to subsystems such as patient and address databases as well as geodata ensure that the required information can be retrieved quickly.

The control center equipment includes console systems with electromotive height adjustment, staff cabinets with locking systems and much more. A total of 13 main workstations and 14 mobile and special workstations are available, which are equipped with client applications for the operations control system, the voice switching system, voice recording and system management.

A VoIP connection to the existing voice and data radio infrastructure and the integration of existing technology (digital radio relay, data radio, vehicle equipment) was implemented for the external locations.
