Traffic safety – and especially tunnel safety –  is a top priority in Austria. Since 2004, more than five billion euros have been invested in Austria's tunnels - sucessfully so, as the tunnels on our motorways and expressways rank among the safest in Europe and can confidently stand up to international comparison.

Versatile solutions

Our solutions range from lighting and ventilation under normal and emergency conditions, to air quality and air velocity measurements as well as fire detection and firefighting systems including the associated extinguishing water pipes. Our portfolio also includes the installation of emergency signage and the installation of smoke and fire-tight doors and gates.

Rapid response in case of emergency

With our event monitoring systems for image recording, transmission, detection, and analysis, incidents or even accidents involving fire can be quickly identified, allowing emergency response chains to be activated without delay. The acoustic tunnel monitoring system is specifically designed to detect unusual sounds in the tunnel – such as screeching tires during sudden braking – and to trigger alarms accordingly.

STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions also provides comprehensive emergency communication and alerting through its tunnel radio systems for operational and emergency services, as well as its integrated alarm systems.
