With a total investment of approximately € 857 million, the S7 Fürstenfeld expressway is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the road transport sector in recent years. It connects the A2 southern motorway at the Riegersburg junction with the Austrian-Hungarian border near Heiligenkreuz over a distance of 28.4 km.

By linking to the M8 motorway on Hungarian territory, it significantly contributes to promoting the idea of European integration. At the same time, it creates an important west-east transport corridor in the south-eastern part of Styria and Burgenland, significantly contributing to the economic development of the region. The construction of the S7 also brings substantial relief to local communities previously affected by traffic on the federal road – especially the towns of Fürstenfeld, Rudersdorf and Großwilfersdorf.

In May 2022, SISS was awarded the contract for the electromechanical equipment of the newly built S7 Fürstenfeld expressway. The western section, including the Rudersdorf tunnel, was already opened to traffic in March 2024. Since then, around 10,000 vehicles have been using the new route daily.

On September 19, 2025, the eastern section – and thus the entire S7 – was officially opened to traffic in Heiligenkreuz im Lafnitztal, in the presence of Transport Minister Peter Hanke (SPÖ), Styrian Governor Mario Kunasek (FPÖ), and numerous other distinguished guests.

We are proud to have made a significant contribution to the technical infrastructure and traffic safety of the S7 as part of this project.
